Capital Campaign

To fulfill the goals established under its Strategic Plan, Inner-City Arts in 1999 undertook a Campus Expansion campaign to more than double the size of its original arts complex.

The first phase of expansion completed in late 2003 with the opening of a new Visual Arts building. With the completion of the second phase of campus expansion in 2005/06, Inner-City Arts capacity to provide programs -- both in and outside of the regular school day -- will expand to include over 16,000 children annually.

Construction of the two-phase campus expansion began in 2003 with the renovation of a 10,000 square foot building annexed to Inner-City Arts' existing complex to serve as the new "Visual Arts Center."

The second phase of construction, to begin in Summer 2007, will complete the vision for an expanded campus supporting rich programming in multiple arts fields. Phase II will make for the revitalization of the Ceramics Studio, construction of an all-new Library & Conference Center, and the construction of an Administrative Center to house staff to oversee the fiscal needs of dramatically-expanded programming.

A "Grand" Courtyard featuring a Children's Community Garden will grace the entrance of students and visitors to this city oasis, and enhance outdoor teaching and performance activities. The crowning moment of our campus expansion will come with completion of the "Theater Center," a new construction featuring a state-of-the-art theate complete with Costume and Set Design Shops, Dressing Rooms and Entrance Lobby.

The completion of the Campus Expansion will enable the wide-scale enhancement of existing programs and make way for the initiation of new programs. Inner-City Arts will grow in its capacity to increase in school and after-school service to students ages 8 through 12, and extend new after-school services to middle- and high-school students.
