JANUARY 2007 ENEWS:

-- The Inner-City Arts Chorus, directed by music instructor Edith Vargas, sang for all of Los Angeles to hear over the holidays. Power 106 radio recorded the students as they sang their hearts out on Christmas Eve, which later aired on the station's morning show on December 26. -- The Staples Center, home to the Los Angeles Kings, Lakers, Clippers, Sparks and Avengers, has begun construction of a new sports and entertainment center in downtown Los Angeles. A temporary wall has been built around the construction site and instead of a chain-link fence, they asked partnering organizations to assist with something a little more colorful. Several wooden panels were painted by Inner-City Arts students. The "Miles of Smiles" wall was unveiled last fall. The next time you're at the Staples Center, be sure to keep an eye out for the beautiful panels created by our students. They're right next to the will call box office!

-- Another shining moment in 2006 was a surprise announcement from our newest board member Monica Rosenthal and her husband Phil Rosenthal. They have decided to increase their donation towards the building of the Inner-City Arts Theater from $500,000 to $2 Million. Inner-City Arts will break ground to build the theater this spring, so stay tuned!
