JUNE 2008: Inner-City Arts' innovative animation program, created in 1995, is now The DreamWorks Animation Academy at Inner-City Arts, in recognition of a $500,000 grant from the DreamWorks Animation Charitable Foundation. At the presentation ceremony on May 28, DreamWorks Animation SKG CEO Jeffery Katzenberg, Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa, Actresses Lisa Kudrow and Kate del Castillo were treated to the screening of a film created by students from El Sereno Elementary School. The 4th grade students attended a 14-week class at Inner-City Arts to create the 7-minute animated piece. See our PRESSROOM for media clippings and video coverage of the event. This year, The Inner-City Arts Chorus currently includes 25 students from Para Los Niño's Charter School. Within this year, the Chorus has performed locally for the grand opening of the Los Angeles Public Library, the 2nd Annual Community Awareness Day on 97th Street and most recently, on June 6, the Chorus sang at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Assembly Speaker, Karen Bass at Los Angeles Trade Tech.
