Creativity in the Classroom Series
A 35-hour course meeting on Saturdays, Creativity in the Classroom is designed
for teachers at all grade levels, those new to the arts as well as those with
a full range of experience in multiple art forms. Offered each fall and spring,
workshops provide classroom teachers and teaching artists with meaningful strategies
to incorporate the visual and performing arts into the classroom curriculum
in support of student achievement. Shared learning is integrated into every
class and participants, paired with same-grade buddies, also share classroom
experiences between Saturday sessions. The Creativity in the Classroom Series
is eligible for Los Angeles Unified School District salary point credit. Download

Workshops for Schools and Community Partners
The Inner-City Arts - Annenberg Professional Development Program provides training for our partner organizations, including schools, other arts providers and social service agencies. Workshops such as Arts in the Classroom - Possibilities and Payoffs and Arts for Language, Learning and Life feature hands-on experiences in the visual and performing arts, with a focus on tailoring these creativity-based arts processes and methodologies for the participants' specific contexts and goals.
Teachers Institute
Currently partnering with UCLA TEP (the UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies Center X Teacher Education Program), the Inner-City Arts Teachers Institute provides arts training for new teachers committed to working in high-poverty schools. During this two-year course of graduate study, 75 TEP students enrolled in the credential and Masters of Education program at UCLA receive 12 days of intensive arts training designed and facilitated by Inner-City Arts staff, creating and implementing arts and arts-integrated lessons and units of study.

Bridges to Classroom Integration Series
Teachers whose classes participate in Inner-City Arts instructional day programs are eligible to enroll in Bridges to Classroom Integration. This class provides connections, both in content and methodology, between the work teachers do with their students in our studios and the work they do in the school classroom, including discussions of the goals, theory and research that form the basis for all Inner-City Arts programs. The Bridges to Classroom Integration Series is eligible for Los Angeles Unified School District salary point credit.

I had let time restrictions and mandates close my thinking. I now feel much stronger about the need for the arts. I can see new connections between subjects. I’m getting more of a sense of hope.
