Inner-City Arts' beautiful, award-winning campus is an oasis of serenity, safety and learning in the heart of Skid Row, one of Los Angeles' most impoverished neighborhoods. Bringing transformational inspiration to everyone who passes through its gates and serving as a beacon of hope to the entire community, the Inner-City Arts campus is a reminder that good things, good ideas and good people can flourish on Skid Row.
When visitors come to Inner-City Arts, they step into another universe. In the midst of one of the city's poorest neighborhoods, our one-acre campus contributes to a sense of well-being and provides an environment that inspires students to push themselves to reach their full potential.
Research has shown that by the age of ten, children growing up in extreme poverty have already accepted their circumstances. They don't believe they can grow up to be the firefighter, the banker, the doctor, the teacher, the business owner, the artist or the police officer. They believe that those dreams are for other children.
Walking through our gardens, working in professionally equipped studios, performing in our new state-of-the-art black box theater, every child who comes to Inner-City Arts learns that those dreams can be their dreams too—and acquires the tools to achieve them.
